One of the largest villas in Zanzibar, so a great option for large gatherings and celebrations!

From hammocks to daybeds, there are many areas to chill out... but there are equally many options for socializing, wining and dining.

You can walk for hours in either direction, on a powder-white paradise beach.

The villa is tastefully furnished, with many beautiful arts, crafts and artifacts.

Villa Lali is at the top end of most budgets... but it offers an unforgettable experience for those lucky enough to stay there!

Villa Lali comfortably accommodates 16 adult guests in eight tastefully designed and luxuriously appointed bedroom suites. Additional single beds for children are available upon request.

All eight of the bedroom suites feature:

  • air conditioning and fans
  • king size beds (with mosquito nets)
  • en-suite bathrooms with shower and toilet
  • outdoor areas with wonderful views of the garden, pool or sea

The four ground floor rooms offer garden and ocean views, while the four upper floor rooms feature stunning, uninterrupted views over the Indian Ocean.

There are plenty of shared spaces, with lounges and verandas, dining tables and day beds – both inside and out, upstairs and down.

Co-owned by a well-known South African Interior Designer, Villa Lali is beautifully styled and furnished. It feels like an extremely comfortable and relaxed gallery full of contemporary arts and crafts.

With the exception of some exquisite fabrics and linen from India, all the furniture, décor items and art pieces are made by local artisans and crafted from Zanzibari materials, such as coconut wood and palm leaves.

In a tribute to the rich culture of Zanzibar, Villa Lali blends Omani, Arab, African and Indian influences. Local artisans have been partnered to create an authentic Zanzibar Beach Villa that feels both exotic and welcoming.

Many of the furnishings in Villa Lali were handcrafted or refurbished by craftsmen from nearby villages, helping to keep their skills alive and enhancing the Villa’s authentic style and comfort.

Service is attentive but discreet.

Before you say the word, a drink will appear, your room will be made up… and a scrumptious meal prepared by the head chef – and served by the delightful villa waitresses.

Villa Lali’s gardener maintains the pool and lush tropical gardens, and the askari (night watchman) is on duty every night.

With a farm to table approach, Villa Lali serves a wonderful fusion of international and zanzibari flavors; sustainably sourced seafood and seasonal organic veg from local farmers.

Chef Kundi will curate a menu during your stay, and every dish will have subtle, yet intense flavours (not for nothing is Zanzibar known as the Spice Island!)

You are spoiled for choice with locations to dine – from the beach itself, the deck or the garden – to the ground floor terrace or the upstairs patio (nice and breezy, for very hot days.)

And don’t forget the baraza lounge near the pool… perfect for cocktails!

For pure relaxation, Villa Lali offers many ways to pass the time… Find a quiet corner to read your book, stretch out on a sun lounger by the pool – or laze in a hammock swaying in the breeze.

If you’re feeling more active, there’s also plenty to do – from the restorative to the energetic.
