Scuba Diving
There is a fully equipped dive centre with the latest equipment, run by qualified PADI professionals. A full range of PADI courses are offered, starting with a ‘try dive’ for those who have never taken a breath underwater, up to Divemaster for those looking at a more professional level of training.
Diving trips are run daily on the surrounding reefs that range from 10-30m depth and host an array of corals and tropical fish.
Safari Blue is a full day trip and includes use of top quality snorkeling equipment with guides and instructors, ice cold sodas, mineral water and beer, a delicious Zanzibari seafood lunch with grilled fish and slipper lobster, gastronomic fruit tasting, coffee and Amarula liqueur.
Safari Blue explores the Menai Bay Conservation Area, which is home to two different species of dolphins, the Indo-pacific humpback and the bottlenose. Guests are lucky enough to see dolphins on 85% of the excursions. In the morning you will be set down on one of the beautiful sandbanks where you can relax, swim or snorkel.
There is plenty of good quality snorkeling equipment and the experienced snorkeling guides will show you the pristine coral reef, which teems with tropical sea life. Instruction is also available for beginners. After snorkeling cold drinks, fresh coconuts and local snacks, and then you will be taken to Kwale island and the “desert island” restaurant.
The buffet lunch includes fish, slipper lobster, calamari, rice and sauces all served hot from the grill. The crew also prepares and presents a gastronomic fruit tasting with a large selection of delicious tropical fruits. Join the crew for a sail on an “ngalawa”- a local canoe with outriggers which has been carved from a single mango tree. As Safari Blue comes to an end and you return by traditional lanteen sail, the full splendor of the African sunset reveals itself!
Fumba Lodge’s Baobab Spa is one of a kind, built under and around a magnificent Baobab tree, with a combination of Zanzibari style and modern elegance. Choose from aromatherapy massage to invigorate you, or hot stone therapy to help relieve aching muscles.
Body scrubs infused with spices of Zanzibar, vanilla, ylang ylang, and gingers will leave your skin soft, smooth and ready to soak up the sun. Manicures, pedicures and signature facials with Aloe Vera and green tea are also offered by Fumba’s therapists.
The Jacuzzi is built into the Baobab tree itself. Shaded by rustling leaves, and overlooking the lush landscape, you can ask for whatever you want: a romantic shared bath with champagne under the night skies, a day time soak, or a solitary scrub.
