Che Che Vule’s private chefs, Eddy and Juma, lovingly prepare some of the best food that Zanzibar has to offer – tropical fruits and fresh vegetables, an array of delicious seafood from the Indian Ocean, homemade goodies and more… all creatively prepared using Zanzibar’s famous herbs and spices.
Che Che Vule’s food policy is to keep the menu small and use only the freshest ingredients. Lobsters, crabs or delicious local shells can be organized on request, at a minimal additional cost.
Throughout your stay, Haji, one of your private butlers will always be happy to serve your drinks. He is revered for his fresh tropical fruit concoctions and is known as the ‘Milkshake Master’.
Che Che Vule is only a 20 minute boat ride from Mnemba Island. Its surrounding atoll is world famous for its great dive sites and snorkelling.
On a good day, guests can spot migrating humpback whales during July – September and whale sharks from November – January. Sea turtles – mostly green turtles and hawkbacks – are around all year, as are playful dolphins that are known for putting on a good show.
REEF WALK
Matemwe beach, like all beaches around Zanzibar, is tidal and at full moon the difference between low and high can reach up to 4 metres. During low tide one can walk all the way to the reef and it is especially interesting at night time. You can see lion fish, colourful snails, baby octopus and eels, shrimp and many more sea creatures.
SAILING
Matemwe village is famous for its big fleet of Ngalawas (dug outs with an outrigger and a sail) used by the local fishermen. Sailing in one of these boats is a unique experience and Che Che Vule can happily arrange a trip for you.
FISHING
If you wish to go fishing for the big ones (like sail fish, dorado, king fish, marlin and tuna) Che Che Vule can arrange a half hour transfer to Nungwi, where you can fish in the Pemba channel on a fully equipped professional deep sea fishing boat.
Guests are picked up on the beach in front of the villa by DIVE POINT, a professional PADI dive company. There are several excellent dive spots around the Mnemba atoll, and for those that have never been diving before there are PADI dive courses offered.
SNORKELING
Mnemba atoll is renowned for its picture-perfect underwater scenery. Local captains from Matemwe village will take you to Mnemba in a traditional Zanzibari dhow equipped with outboard engines, life jackets and a sun roof. Che Che Vule’s cook will provide a lunch box if you plan to stay out for a full day!
ROMANTIC, PRIVATE. AND INTIMATE… Imagine a dream house hidden within a tropical garden. Imagine walking down the beach, barefoot, surrounded by arches of Bougainvillea… The turquoise water of the Indian Ocean in front of you… and there… impatiently waiting under a palm leaves chapel is your Groom! A few guests… maybe none… enjoy the melody of a violin and some drums…
The possibilities are endless: a Romantic sunset Dhow cruise, a Brunch, Lunch or Dinner Set-up on the Beach or the Deck Terrace overlooking the ocean or by the pool… Che Che Vule would be happy to arrange your dream wedding!
